CONTROVERSIES IN SURGERY - “Laparoscopic Colectomy versus Open Colectomy – Pro and Con”
From 5:15 - 7:00 PM on Sunday there will be a presentation in a pro/con fashion debating the merits of open vs laparoscopic colon resection. With the recent publications regarding the outcomes of laparoscopic colorectal surgery, there is great debate as to what the “Gold Standard” will be. This session will discuss the controversies in this field. Dr. Heidi Nelson, author of the recent study on laparoscopic colon resections will be present as a discussant.
